Getting to Trier
There are different options to get to Trier: by plane, train, bus or car.
Arrival from abroad
For your arrival in Trier, different connections are available by plane, train, bus and car.
Arrival by train
We are happy if you arrive as environmentally friendly as possible! If you are arriving by train from a European country, you will usually find the train connections on the homepage of Deutsche Bahn (www.bahn.de) or on the website of the railway company of your country of origin.
Paris is within a 3-4 hour train journey from Trier, so it is also possible to connect to the UK via Eurostar.
Arrival by bus

Arrival by plane
In the vicinity of Trier there are the airports Frankfurt/Main, Frankfurt/Hahn, Cologne/Bonn, Luxembourg and Saarbrücken. If you are arriving from North America, South America, Asia, Oceania or Africa, we recommend the airports Frankfurt/Main and Luxembourg; if you are arriving from Europe, we also recommend the airports Saarbrücken, Frankfurt/Hahn and Cologne/Bonn. The latter two airports are also served by low-cost airlines.
Arrival via Frankfurt/Main Airport

Arrival via Frankfurt/Hahn Airport
From Frankfurt/Hahn Airport there is a direct bus connection to Trier (main train station). For more information, visit www.flibco.com.
Arrival via Cologne/Bonn Airport
From Cologne/Bonn Airport you can take the train to Trier (Hauptbahnhof). Further information can be found on the homepage of Deutsche Bahn at www.bahn.de.
Arrival via Luxembourg Airport
The bus line 302 from Voyages Emile Weber runs several times a day from Monday to Friday between the cities of Luxembourg and Trier with a stop at Findel Airport in Luxembourg.
Alternatively, you can take a regular city bus from Luxembourg Airport to Luxembourg station and from there continue by train to Trier (main station) for around 7 EURO (one way). Further information can be found on the homepage of Deutsche Bahn at www.bahn.de.
Please note that public transport in Luxembourg is FREE throughout the country! You just need to pay for the section of the trips that go through Germany.
Arrival by car

Directions to Campus I
Campus I of Trier University is easily accessible by car or public transport. Coming from the city centre, the University is signposted and can be reached via Avelsbacher Straße or Olewiger Straße/Gustav-Heinemann-Straße. There are ample parking spaces for visitors both to the west and east of the campus.

The easiest way to reach the campus by public transport is via the stops “Universität” (lines: 3/83, 13/73 and 4), “Universität Mensa” (line 14) and “Universität Süd” (lines: 6 and 81). During the day on weekdays, a bus runs to the university approximately every 7 minutes. For more detailed information on stops and departure times, please find the timetable info here.
